Start Smart Stay Safe (S4) is the leading, universal approach by the Calgary Police Service (CPS) which contributes to the resilience in children and their families.  CPS intentionally participates in the school community through positive interaction, models the CPS Core Values, and delivers strengths-based messaging that supports character development in children.  Every time a child or family has an interaction with a police officer, the goal is for  those experiences to create a positive impact. This is especially true during the early elementary years because children are forming a foundation of trust and responsibility.
