Start Smart Stay Safe (S4) provides opportunities for children, teachers, and families to become comfortable seeing and engaging police officers in their school community as they all explore the question “How do we work together to keep our community safe?”

Through S4, police officers are viewed as supportive members of the community rather than enforcers to be feared. Children learn how to make good choices that empower themselves and others. Children, teachers, families, and police officers develop positive relationships with one another as they explore the shared responsibility in keeping the community safe. S4 enhances resilience that exists in our communities – because we do better, together.
